Historic Elks Lodge

After countless disparate interventions severely altering the original quality and character, the 1922 Historic Elks Lodge located in downtown Twin Falls, Idaho finally received the comprehensive restoration it deserved. The owner charged the design team to return the timeless appearance while upgrading the building with modern conveniences to attract new long term tenants and returning it to a centerpiece of downtown activity. The result is classic, clean and sophisticated.

Existing windows and original openings covered with stucco panels as part of previous renovations were replaced with new energy efficient period appropriate versions. Exterior walls were upgraded to meet current energy codes and interior spaces reimagined to attract new uses. The once dark central marble staircase was refreshed with new lighting and by taking advantage of rediscovered natural light. Interior finishes compliment the architecture while visually layering textures to provide an overall richness appropriate to the building.

The building is now home to a thriving brewery and restaurant, as well as commercial space to help energize the downtown core. The underutilized basement spaces were opened up to the first floor uses to create a daylit event space that spills out onto a lower-level patio. The added height also allowed brewery equipment to become part of the user experience. The upper floor includes a new and modern build to suit office space with a light-filled central lobby.
