St. Luke’s Cancer Infusion Center

The St. Luke’s Boise Cancer Infusion Center reimagines existing fifth-floor conference center space as a supportive, patient-centered environment for cancer infusion care. The 15,000 SF remodel expands Cancer Institute services with 29 infusion bays, 9 fast-track bays, 4 private treatment rooms, and an integrated 2,500 SF USP 797/800 cleanroom and pharmacy.

Designed around the needs of patients, families, and caregivers, the project balances comfort, privacy, clinical visibility, staff efficiency, and technical performance. Large exterior windows and Boise Foothills views help create a calm and comfortable setting, while strategically distributed support spaces and carefully studied pod layouts help reduce nurse travel and improve daily workflow.

In collaboration with the St. Luke’s Innovation Lab, Pivot North harnessed user-group planning, digital review, workflow studies, and a full-scale mockup of infusion bays and nurse workstation to test simulated care scenarios to inform the final design. The process helped validate dimensions, equipment placement, outlets, medical-gas connections, and furniture arrangements, creating a design shaped by evidence, simulation, and direct user feedback.
